At Miss Penelope, the highlight of the menu is undoubtedly the traditional Turkish breakfast, which is a feast for the senses. Imagine a vibrant spread of fresh breads, assorted cheeses, olives, and vegetables, all painstakingly prepared to give you a genuine taste of Turkey. Priced at 500TL for a single serving, this breakfast is highly recommended by guests for its generous portions and delightful flavors. As one reviewer, Claire LT, enthusiastically put it, “Amazing little spot to have Turkish Breakfast.”

Beyond breakfast, don’t miss the opportunity to treat yourself to their homemade cookies, although keep in mind that these delightful treats are a bit on the pricey side at 100TL each. Amazing little spot to have Turkish Breakfast. For one person it cost 500TL. Highly recommend! They're cookies are really delicious too but are 100TL a cookie, which is pretty crazy.

My sister and I visited Miss Penelope in Balat on our recent vacation in Istanbul. We stopped at this cafe to have the most delicious and refreshing homemade blueberry and lemonade juices. The cafe was so cozy and the owner ( I have forgotten her name) was so welcoming and kind. We chatted for a bit and she even assisted us by translating for us with a nearby store owner. Another cafe you must visit when you are in Balat.

Located on one of the quieter side streets, this cafe was a welcome sanctuary for us to get out of the heat, crowds, and loud honking of cars and motorbikes. Delicious homemade juices and desserts and very friendly service!

We discovered this café by chance while strolling through this charming Balat neighborhood. From the outside, it looks tiny, but the owners (a mother and her daughter) welcome you with a big smile and great kindness! We immediately felt at ease, like at home: the warmth of the welcome, the kindness of our hosts, the very cozy decor, all of this helps to put you in the best conditions to enjoy the rest... Because the best is yet to come! Indeed, the small dry cookies (cooky-style) are exquisitely flavorful! Everything is homemade, everything is fresh daily (no overproduction), and, above all, everything is WONDERFULLY good! I recommend the vanilla cookie (it melts in your mouth) or the cake filled with lemon cream! In short, if you visit Istanbul, don't miss a visit: you'll have a date with Love Made Pastry!

After walking to the old church at the top of the hill then winding back down through the neighbourhood admiring the colourful houses, we were ready for breakfast. Bypassing the generic cafes, we spotted Miss Penelope’s Cafe, drawn in by the cheerful purple front & cute kitchy outdoor seating. We definitely made the right choice as the homemade authentic Turkish food was very tasty and the drinks were excellent. Don’t miss the blackberry water made with organic own-grown berries, so refreshing! And look up to see the ceiling fresco in the entrance. Service was so friendly and welcoming, the owner is lovely & encouraged a relaxing unhurried visit definitely stop in for a tasty meal, well worth it.

Come here for coffee and food! Super friendly owner, who designed this space really well in a great style. Food is delicious and well priced, and even has small touches such as fresh mint, and delicious homemade tomato tapenade! She also makes a great cappuccino. Really good location, set in a peaceful street which is it's self nice for photographs. Really recommend this place, I'll be back tomorrow!
